Taeko Shibata’s “Dear Yesterday” is a sought-after late-1980s Japanese boogie album filled with polished synthesizers, crisp electronic rhythms, funky basslines and sophisticated urban melodies. Her smooth, expressive vocals move easily between dancefloor-oriented synth-funk and atmospheric city pop, with “Sail On – Kaze ni Mukatte” among its notable selections. Featured in the “WA B・O・O・G・I・E 1980s Japanese Boogie” guide, the album is especially appealing to collectors of rare Japanese groove and overlooked female vocal releases. |
