For CITY POP and Japanese music enthusiasts, SHOGUN is essential. Formed in ’78 around Fujimaru Yoshino, also known from AB’S, this rock band’s 1979 2nd album is a masterpiece. Highlights include the funky horn driven “Lonely Man,” the ending theme of Yuusaku Matsuda’s classic TV drama Tantei Monogatari; the opening theme “Bad City”; the insert song “Margarita”; and the energetic, horn heavy opener “As Easy As You Make It” along with “Imagination.” A flawless album from start to finish |
