Naniwa Express delivers an energetic blend of jazz fusion, funk and crossover grooves on "Modern Beat." The band's powerful lineup features Kazuhiko Iwami on guitar, Kenji Nakamura on keyboards, Makoto Aoyagi on saxophone and keyboards, Kiyoshi Shimizu on bass, and Rikiya Higashihara on drums and percussion. Tight ensemble playing, muscular rhythms and Iwami's combination of funky guitar cutting and fluid jazz phrasing define the album, with the popular "Charcoal Break" standing out as a particularly groove-driven highlight. |
