Keyboardist and composer Mikio “Mickey” Masuda leads a compact, rock-influenced fusion quartet featuring Takayuki Kato on guitar, Tatsuhiko Hizawa on bass and Yoshikazu Harada on drums. Masuda’s electric piano and synthesizers drive the album through melodic jazz-funk, agile crossover grooves and atmospheric late-night passages. Highlights include the bass-heavy title track, the Brazilian standard “Tico Tico,” “Swingin’ After Midnight” and the mellow electric-piano piece “5:30 A.M.,” making this a rewarding selection for collectors of deep Japanese fusion. |
