Former Yonin Bayashi guitarist Katsutoshi Morizono blends jazz-rock, blues, soul and lightly psychedelic textures on his first solo album to feature vocals. His expressive guitar playing is supported by Daisaku Kume, Koki Ito, Satoshi Nakamura, Ryoichi Akimoto and drummer Shuichi “Ponta” Murakami. Highlights include the soulful “You’ll Stay in My Heart,” the floating James Vincent cover “Space Traveller” and a Hammond-driven interpretation of Booker T.’s “Last Tango in Memphis,” making this a sought-after title among Japanese fusion and obscure groove collectors. |
