“My Road” collects Junko Sakurada’s sophisticated late-period singles, tracing her transition from classic idol pop toward polished kayōkyoku and city pop. Highlights include “Lady,” written by Ami Ozaki and arranged by Shigeru Suzuki, and “Yūgure wa Love Song,” composed and arranged by jazz-fusion keyboardist Jun Fukamachi. Contributions from Koji Makaino, Kunihiko Suzuki, Motoki Funayama and Chūei Yoshikawa give the collection a varied sound built around elegant orchestration, mellow grooves and Sakurada’s expressive vocals. |
