The first installment of Masaki Ōnuki’s European inspired trilogy, produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Kazuhiko Kato, with YMO members providing backing. Features the ultra cool digital pop and Balearic disco of “CARNAVAL,” the European-flavored classic “Ame no Yoake” arranged by Sakamoto that became a template for Ōnuki’s later work, and the exceptional bossa style remake of his Sugar Babe era track “Shinkirō no Machi” arranged by Kato. Also includes contemporary gems like “Decade Night” and the Brazil flavored “Futari.” The sleek cover art perfectly reflects the album’s cool aesthetic. |
