🎧 EPO – "FREE STYLE" (1988) Promo Copy Just Arrived

📢
We’re excited to announce that a promo copy of FREE STYLE (1988) by Japanese singer-songwriter EPO has just arrived at Wabi Records.

📀 Limited Pressing During Japan’s CD Transition
This album was released during a major shift in Japan’s music industry—the transition from vinyl to compact discs.
As CDs became the dominant format in the late 1980s, vinyl pressings were extremely limited, especially promo copies, which were only distributed to radio stations and industry insiders.
Today, these versions are very hard to find and highly collectible.

🎼 A Turning Point in EPO’s Musical Journey
Musically, FREE STYLE marked a turning point in EPO’s career.
Moving away from the idol-style pop of her early years, she embraced a more sophisticated city pop sound, full of emotional depth and refined arrangements.
The album was recorded in both Tokyo and London, with British keyboardist Danny Schogger handling the arrangements.
His tasteful touch adds a subtle, cosmopolitan atmosphere that blends perfectly with EPO’s vocals.

🎵 Recommended Tracks:

"Freestyle" – A polished, funky opener

"I Can’t Let Go" – A soulful and bittersweet ballad

"Le Pas" – Originally written for Hiroko Yakushimaru, reinterpreted by EPO in a more personal style

✨ Final Note:
This promo vinyl is in great condition and offers both historical value and excellent sound quality.
If you're looking for a rare piece of Japanese city pop history, this is a special find.
Available now at Wabi Records.
