Includes the urban AOR gem “Riverside Hotel,” written and arranged by Japanese AOR craftsman Tetsuji Hayashi, and the soulful horn-driven “Never Ending Summer II.”
Under the direction of producer Koichi Fujita, the project brought together top creators including composers Tetsuji Hayashi and Tsunehiro Izumi, along with arranger Hiroshi Shinkawa. Known as a special project unit (active in three phases), the vocals shifted over time from Kiyotaka Sugiyama to Carlos Toshiki and later Masato Arai.
Centered around themes of summer, the sea, and resort life, their releases perfectly capture the refined, sun-soaked sound of Japanese city pop.
