Highlights include Haruomi Hosono’s “Saigo no Rakuen,” the Japanese cosmic/balearic classic “Cosmic Surfin’” (in a different version from Y.M.O.), the tropical mellow groove “Coral Reef,” the Latin-flavored dancer “Passion Flower,” and the bossa/brazilian tune “Noanoa.”
Also features “Nostalgia of Island,” a collaboration between Tatsuro Yamashita and Ryuichi Sakamoto, along with the tightly performed Yamashita track “Kiska.” A superb album packed with rich, sun-drenched sounds throughout.
